Petr Novak Teapot
Good pottery is as essential to the ritual of tea serving as pure water and good company. These humble and highly functional pieces will last a lifetime.
Petr is often referred to as the best Western tea potter. His style blends a natural wabi style and traditional European techniques.
For him, making pots is more about the process than the final product. Each work begins its life on the potter's wheel. It is altered or assembled off the wheel, fired and glazed with a mixture of natural materials and finally fired a second time in a wood-burning kiln of his own construction at 1260C - 1350C. From earth, mud and dirt; form, fire and smoke originate softly shining and an ethereal surface of the tea bowl.
Teapots vary in size and glaze. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details on specific pots.
